Description
Enabling IPv6 on a large enterprise network sounds like a daunting
task. But turning off IPv4 and migrating such a network to IPv6-only
mode sounds like science fiction. This session tells the story of
migrating Google's enterprise network to IPv6-mostly mode, where
IPv6-only and IPv4-enabled devices co-exist on the same network.
The following topics will be covered:
Motivation: Why disable IPv4? Benefits of IPv6 and IPv6-mostly.
Technical details: What is IPv6-mostly mode, and how to enable it. The
key elements and technologies will be explained, covering both the
networking infrastructure and endpoints perspective.
What went wrong and what went well: Challenges and issues encountered,
resolved and still pending resolution.
Next steps: Further plans to reduce IPv4 footprints.
